But what do you do?
I used to think you had to have a singular answer to this question. Pick whether you’re a writer or an artist. Choose your niche and lean in. But in reality, it’s embracing the breadth of my creativity that’s made me feel more like myself than ever. So I refuse to niche down. And if you embrace creativity in all sorts of forms, we’re kindred spirits.

I’m Jess, and my friends call my Jazzy.
For the past 17 years, I’ve built a full-time career as a writer and creative in marketing and advertising. My passion at work is digging into what makes a brand truly unique in the world and communicating that in the most simple, empathetic ways possible.
In my 30s I came to terms with my lifelong friend Depression, and my therapist opened my eyes to being a Highly Sensitive Person. Together, those two things become my sort of superpowers. I can feel deeply, and I can translate that into marketing and advertising that others feel deeply, too.
That’s also why my environment and the people in it are highly influential to my sense of stimulation (and way overstimulation). And if there’s one environment that affects me most, it’s my home. If you know me, you’ve heard me talk about being a fiend for a hit of serotonin, dopamine, or endorphins. Designing my home opens up all of that. It led me to making textured art for my own walls and the walls of family and friends. Now, I make art every single day.
Art. Interiors. DIYs. Branding. Creative Directing. Writing. It’s all part of me. And I hope that, even in small ways, it inspires you.
